Why ten24 Became Our Company Name

Many people ask where the ten24 name came from, well here’s the answer!

The number 1024 happens to come up frequently in relation to computers. Code works in binary, meaning there is an “on” and “off” state represented by 1s and 0s, respectively. This binary system also means that memory is measured in powers of 2.

With huge amounts of data, you can imagine that binary code can get complex. Hence, these continuous 1s and 0s need to be shortened. A frequent number that occurs in software development is 10000000000. That number can be represented as 1024 instead, making it simpler and shorter when it appears in computer applications.

Also, fun fact, many believe that 1 kilobyte is equal to 1000 bytes. In actuality, there are 1024 bytes in a kilobyte.
