New Pair of Shoes

July 28, 2009 by David Crouch

How does that saying go, something about the cobbler's kids always running around in worn out shoes?

Well ten24 isn't any different as we have been planning to update our own site for a while now, but client projects and other priorities always seem to get in the way.

How do you keep that from happening, if anyone has some great ideas let me know.  In the meantime, at least I can post the design comps so you can see what it will look like when, and if, we ever get to it.

David,

Scheduling time to do work for your own company is one of the hardest things for an interactive agency to do. Clients should come first. Right? Yes, but your own image is important too, as it can sometimes be the determining factor of a client choosing your company. It's also a great way to showcase some of your team's development skills that some clients might not otherwise see.

My old company had the same problem. We were too busy to redo our own site, which was over 3 years old. Ultimately, we had to treat ourselves as one of our clients. A project manager was assigned to our company contact (the president) and our project was not given special treatment, but was not put on the back-burner either. We had a large site, and were able to get it done within 3 months.

Good luck! (and I like where you are going with the comps so far - the main navigation is very easy to see)
